Christ Church Thornton relies entirely on donations from church members, visitors, grants and fees.

Giving at Church

In person at Church, donations can be given during worship services using cash or cheque. Or monies can be handed in at the Church Office, situated in the main corridor connecting the Church and the Hall. If you would like to give regularly, giving envelopes are available. These are small brown envelopes which are dated, and help plan giving in advance. Please contact us to request a set of envelopes. We also have the facility for contactless giving when visiting Church. Using your contactless debit/credit card, a donation of either £3, £5 or £10 can be made. The contactless machine can be found on the Welcome Desk in the corridor between the Hall and the Church.

Giving Electronically

If you feel you can and would like to give to the ministry and mission of Christ Church but you’d rather do it online, either for ease or because you’re not able to get to Church, you can do so in three ways:

Online Giving

If you’d like to give online, please donate via LEPTON. Click on the link (or download the Lepton App on your smartphone or tablet). Once you click on the link or download the app, you will be asked to sign up using an email address and password, after which you can enter your donation details and Credit or Debit Card details. Your credit/debit card number is never saved on your device and all card details are secured using bank-grade encryption. For more information about Lepton, watch the video below on the left hand side.

The video on the right hand side is a fun animation (great for helping the whole family understand what Jesus taught about giving generously). It tells the story of when Jesus noticed people giving money in the Temple. Some gave loads of money because they were rich and could afford to. But one poor widow put in all that she had left. She gave sacrificially whereas the rich people didn’t – they still had plenty to take home. The point is, giving comes from our heart. God is more concerned with why we give than how much we give.

Bank Transfer

Using online banking, you can make a one-off transfer or set up a standing order. If you would like to do this, it is helpful if you contact us to let us know if you’ve done it. Also, if you’re a tax payer, we can contact you for permission to claim Gift Aid on your donation.

This adds 25 pence to every pound you give, at no extra cost to you – provided you pay the same amount or more of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax. All charities and CASCs claim on a donor’s gifts in a tax year and the donor is responsible to pay any difference.

When giving online or through text message giving, you will be asked if you would like to Gift Aid your donation.

If you are sending a cheque or giving cash or using giving envelopes, and you would like to Gift Aid your amount, a declaration from you is needed. You can either make declaration for a single donation or for multiple donations. Please click the links below the download the relevant form. Please return this to the Church Office once complete. For more information on Gift Aid, please click here to visit the government information.

If you would like to speak to a member of the Finance Team to discuss one-off or regular giving, please contact us.
