What is Essentials?

Most of us would like to believe that there is more to life than just what we can see or touch. The idea of living in a pointless universe without a personal God giving us purpose and protection is a frightening prospect to many. Whereas the possibility of belonging to and being loved by a caring God is absolutely thrilling. But how can we know the truth?

The Essentials Course encourages us to engage with the question of what it means to have a relationship with God.

The Essentials Course takes place at Christ Church throughout the year – at any time when there is interest. There is a short accompanying book to the course, with some light reading in between each session. In total there are five sessions. If you are interested in doing the course, please contact us. The course can be done with just a few people or as a large group, or one a one-to-one basis. We think its best to do the course as part of a small group, with refreshments and the opportunity to be guided through the course by a leader and to have a safe space to ask questions. However if you are unable to take part in the next course, perhaps because of work or family commitments or life circumstances, you can watch the course at home at your own convenience.

Here is a summary of the five sessions of the Essentials Course:

1. Reveal.

Discover the life-changing truth that God has engaged us in conversation. Because Jesus is the Son of God we can know what God is like.

2. Reject

Discover what Jesus thinks of our spiritual condition. Learn the truth about how we have treated God and the resulting consequences.

3. Rescue

Hear the greatest news in the world about how God has rescued us from our biggest danger. Listen to how Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross to save us from the punishment we deserve.

4. Relationship

Find out what Jesus has rescued us for. Discover more about the loving relationship we can enjoy with each member of the Trinity.

Discover how to become a Christian when you know enough about Jesus.
