This Sunday at all our services we will honour those who gave their lives for our lives. Please join us at 9:00 AM, 10:45 AM or 5:00 PM. And/or at the War Memorial at Four Lane Ends, where the parade starts at 10:45 AM (gather from 10:30 AM or earlier).
We’ll be remembering local people such as Robert Smith, of the King’s Own Lancaster Regiment. He was a local pork butcher. He died of his wounds aged 24. He fought in our place for our safety, security, and freedom. We will remember him.
As mentioned previously, the 11:00 AM service will start at the earlier time of 10:45 AM, in order that as close to 11:00 AM as possible we can hold an Act of Remembrance. Peter and Chris will be looking after the service, whilst Damian is leading the public service at the War Memorial at Four Lane Ends.
As we gather on Sunday to worship and honour those who have given their lives, we do so knowing the King of kings and Lord of lords set the greatest example and secured the biggest victory. The Lord Jesus defeated sin, satan and death, through his life, by his death, and upon his resurrection. Look at these words which Jesus said:
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
Do you ever wonder if God loves you?
Here’s the answer: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
God did that. For you. He. Loves. You.

Eric William Shaw
A gentleman. A friend. A servant. Mr Eric Shaw.
Eric served at Christ Church as one of the Fridaymen, until health prevented him from doing so. The last time he attended Christ Church was around a month ago at the Wednesday communion service. He stayed for lunch. It was lovely to see him. He has now passed from his temporary earthly life to a superior everlasting life. Eric’s future is secure because he trusted in the Lord Jesus.
His funeral is on Wednesday 13th November at 3:30 PM at Carleton Crematorium. Eric’s sons Gary and Jaysen have requested that members of Christ Church know they are welcome to attend.
Thank you Lord God for Eric, your child, your servant, our friend and brother.

Bible Teaching Workshop
Jonathan Lamb, author and Minister at Large for Keswick Ministries, will be coming to the Fylde Coast on the morning of Saturday 25th January 2025. As the Church celebrates the Conversion of St Paul that day, he will explore “The Message of 2 Corinthians – encouragements for Christians feeling hard pressed and ineffective.” It will take place in the Poulton Community Hall, Vicarage Road, Poulton. Coffee at 9:00 AM for a 9:30 AM start. It will finish at 12:45 PM. The workshop is free of charge.
A little more info about the workshop…
Are you feeling weak and ineffective in your witness as a Christian? You will not be alone. Paul’s second letter to the church in Corinth is full of encouragements for Christians who feel hard-pressed and ineffective. Throughout his letter Paul reminds us that God’s glory and power is best seen in the weakness of Jesus on the cross. And now that we are united to Christ, we too can know his power in the midst of weakness, enabling us to live like Him, and confidently share God’s message of reconciliation with those around us. Come and hear The message of 2 Corinthians and be encouraged and equipped for your work as a Christian in the local church.
The speaker Jonathan Lamb is a writer and teacher, and minister-at-large for Keswick Ministries. He has worked in local church ministry, then amongst students in the UK and also globally with IFES. He then served as Director of Langham Preaching, an initiative which encourages pastors and lay preachers in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, before becoming the CEO for Keswick Ministries. Today he is often to be found teaching and training at events in the UK and further afield. Jonathan is the author of several books, the most recent of which are ‘Essentially One: striving for the unity God loves’ (IVP) and ‘Growing Healthy churches’ (Partnership Publications). After many years in Oxford, Jonathan and Margaret recently moved to Shropshire, to join their family in working in two small parish churches near Oswestry.
Registration: for planning purposes, please let the organiser know if you plan to attend this free workshop. It is being organised by David Gascoigne at St. Chad’s Church in Poulton. Email davidpgascoigne@gmail.com or Mobile 07768 303462.

Not Getting Inn!
It’s Pan-tivity time! It’s a nativity, and a pantomime (“oh yes it is!”).
A Roman census, tired guests, a broken stable, and a surprise inn-spection. There’s no room at the inn, so when a pregnant woman knocks at the door, how on earth will Bucky the Bell-Boy squeeze them inn?
The Nativity story meets Fawlty Towers in this farcical panto, with songs, slapstick, and plenty of laughs! 4Front Theatre Company are joining us once again, bringing a show full to the rafters with fun, all the while delivering a message of hope, found in the birth of Jesus. It’s on Thursday 5th December, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. To enable as many children, their families, and adults to come and enjoy the evening, it will be free of charge. So please spread the word, put the date in your diary, and let’s fill every seat.

Church WhatsApp Announcement Group
We are also trialing a Church WhatsApp Announcement Group (often called a WhatsApp Community). Short and quick-to-read useful messages of information about church life and activities will be posted on it. If you subscribe to it, no one can see your number except the administrator (currently Damian, with one or two more people to be added going forward).
To try it out and get involved click on this link here to be added to it. If you like it, you can keep on it and if you don’t like it you can easily ‘exit’ the group at any time. You can also ‘mute’ notifications at any time.
If it works, we’ll launch sub-groups by WhatsApp for various church activities going forward as an efficient way to broadcast useful and activity-specific important information (in addition to the weekly news).
