Service of Prayer and Reflection and other responses to Her Majesty’s Death

Dear Church Community,

Good morning,

As we come to terms with the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this email is to outline what we are doing as a church community to grieve together and be of support to the wider community.

——————————-

SERVICE OF PRAYER AND REFLECTION

——————————-

This evening, Friday 9th September, we will be holding a Service of Prayer and Reflection at 6:00 PM. All are welcome. This will be an opportunity to grieve, to pray, and to be still.

——————————-

CHURCH BUILDING OPEN

——————————-

The Church building will be open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day, from now and up until the end of the day of the Queen’s funeral. This is to enable all in the community to have somewhere public and central to express their grief, give thanks, and to pray and be comforted.

——————————-

TOLLING OF THE BELL AT NOON

——————————-

Today at noon the Church Bell will be tolled for one hour. Throughout the nation Church bells will be ringing for one hour at noon.

——————————-

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE

——————————-

We have a Book of Remembrance in Church for those wishing to visit and express their condolences and thankfulness for the Queen’s life. You are welcome when you visit to write your message in the book.

——————————-

LIGHT A CANDLE

——————————-

At the front of Church, we have a photo of the Queen and some votive candles. You are welcome to come into Church and light a candle, remembering that Jesus is the light of the world, who dispels the darkness of death and offers us resurrection hope to those who have faith in Him.

FLOWERS

——————————-

Flowers can be left outside the front of Church, should anyone wish to have a public area in the community to pay tribute and grieve in this way.

——————————-

BROADCAST OF THE FUNERAL IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE HALL

——————————-

We intend to show the funeral service live on the large screen in the Hall for any wishing to watch the service but would prefer to do so together rather than on their own or privately. More details will follow once we have the information.

PRAYER

——————————-

Merciful Father and Lord of all life, we praise you that we are made in your image and reflect your truth and light. We thank you for the life of our late Sovereign Lady QUEEN ELIZABETH, for the love she received from you and showed among us. Above all, we rejoice at your gracious promise to all your servants, living and departed, that we shall rise again at the coming of Christ. And we ask that in due time we may share with your servant Elizabeth that clearer vision promised to us in the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Yours in His service,

Damian
