Funeral Service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Dear Church Community,

Good evening,

The funeral service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be shown in Church on the new large screen on Monday 19th September at 11:00 AM. Everyone is welcome to attend. I intend to treat it as a proper service – one which we will take part in – for example joining in with the singing of the hymns. We will worship God just as those in-person at Westminster Abbey will be doing.

In the Community Centre Hall, the funeral service will also be shown on the big screen, enabling anyone attending with a young child/children to treat the Hall as a creche area, where toys and baby mats and sofas will be available.

The funeral service starts at 11:00 AM. The TV coverage will have a build-up before 11:00 AM. Therefore we intend to show the TV coverage on the big screens from 9:00 AM onwards.

On Monday 19th September all normal activities and services are cancelled as an important mark of respect for the day of mourning. Church will be open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM for the purpose of the funeral service and afterwards for quiet prayer and reflection.

Throughout the rest of this week all normal activities and services are taking place. Church will be open between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Flowers are welcome to be left outside the Church where there is a photo of the Queen and the Union Jack. There is a book of remembrance and an area to light a candle near to the entrance to the Nave.

Yours,

Damian
